Katherine Barkman is an American ballerina who is currently a soloist with San Francisco Ballet and an international guest artist. Regarded as one of the rising stars and role models of her generation, Katherine has been widely praised for her impeccable technique, effortless buoyancy, remarkable balances, and creative passion. Because she is known to approach her roles with natural curiosity and thoughtful attention to details, she began her professional career as a company principal in the Philippines at age 18. Equally adept in both classical and contemporary choreographies, Katherine aspires to retain the timeless elegance and artistry of ballet and to uphold the legacy of knowledge that has been passed down by her own mentors. Trained exclusively in the Vaganova method, she has debuted in full-length productions of most major principal roles in the great classics, including Odette and Odile in Swan Lake, Kitri in Don Quixote, Giselle in Giselle, Aurora in The Sleeping Beauty, Juliet in Romeo and Juliet, Medora in Le Corsaire, and the Sugar Plum Fairy in The Nutcracker. Awards and Recognitions

Katherine is a multi-awarded ballerina whose roster of accomplishments include winning back-to-back silver medals at both the 2018 USA International Ballet Competition in Jackson and the 2018 Varna International Ballet Competition in Bulgaria. Previous to this, she also received the highest honor – the Grand Prix Cup – at the 2015 Asian Grand Prix in Hong Kong.
